Guide · For readers with no Amazon account yet

You bought the inventory first. Here is the honest way out.

Last verified: October 21, 2026

A Medium post told this story again last month: a beginner, $10,000 of product, a garage, and an approval screen they had never seen. It keeps being written because it keeps happening — the sequence (find product, buy product, discover gate) is the one every course teaches and the one that costs beginners the most.

If the boxes are already in your garage, this page is the triage. Four options, honestly priced:

1. Apply properly — if your documents are real

If your inventory came from a manufacturer or authorized distributor with commercial invoices in your name, the gate may simply be unopened, not closed. Open the account, go Professional, apply with the documents. The category pages on this site list exactly what each gate wants. Timeline: weeks. Cost: the plan months plus your patience.

2. Sell it on an open door meanwhile

Nothing about a gate on Amazon stops you selling the same lawful product on eBay, Mercari, or locally — the FirstDoorCheck finder exists to pick that door honestly. You will likely take a smaller margin than the Amazon fantasy. A smaller margin is a tuition receipt; a garage of dead stock is just a loss.

3. Return it or wholesale it

Unopened, in-window inventory can sometimes go back to the supplier — ask before the window closes, not after. Failing that, local wholesalers and liquidation buyers will take it at a discount. Recovering 50 cents on the dollar in week two beats recovering zero in month nine.

4. Season the account on the ladder, then re-apply

If the rejection was about account thinness — no history, weak documents — the fix is time on the open rungs: used books, pet supplies, automotive basics. Sales history is the one application ingredient you cannot buy, and it compounds.

What not to do: do not hire a service to 'push through' an approval your documents don't support, do not borrow invoices, and do not buy a second batch 'to look more serious.' Each of those converts a recoverable mistake into an account-ending one.

The sequence that prevents the sequel: gate first, account second, approval third, inventory last. That order is this entire site.

Applying? Take the paperwork pack, not just the verdict

The checker gives you the gate. The Amazon Entry Kit gives you the paperwork: the per-category document checklists for all 22 gates on this site, the invoice-readiness worksheet, the starter ladder plan, the application-order playbook, and the rejection-recovery steps for when Amazon says no the first time.
